Friday 5th June saw Trade Paints 11th annual charity golf day take place. As ever, it was held at Sedlescombe Golf Club, and thankfully as ever, the seaside sunshine didn't let us down.

Despite some dubious looking forecasts of thundery storms on the Thursday, all expected 51 players turned up, devoured some delightful bacon rolls and got swinging. Remarkably, other than a bizarre 5 minute sleet shower and a few impressive claps of thunder, we were once again (11 out of 11!!) very lucky with the weather.

Thanks to our wonderful suppliers and customers alike, we had some spectacular prizes on offer this year- hence the competition was fierce. The first group in, with consciouses clear, posted an impressive 67. This didn't last long.

The real scores starting coming in, and it looked like the 2011 champions, GM Installations, were going to steal the show with an eye watering 88! ... then, in a bizarre twist of scoring error, it turned out Grosvenor Conservatories hadn't quite grasped the 'sum of best 2' scoring, and their 71 magestically turned into a ligitimate 89. Full scores are below, and image gallery below that.

After the usual frenzied prize giving, it was over to the putting green to resolve the yellow ball comp with the traditional putt-off among the top three teams (actually 4 due to a tie for third place). One team down, we moved onto hole number 2... when to everyone surprise (even his own) Richard Pruden of team I L Priddy knocked in an impressive 20 footer (with about 8 foot of break!), thus securing the £150 prize money.

Some massive THANK YOU's for the day go to...

- all at Sedlescombe golf club- the course and food were superb!

- Dean, Peter and Kevin for their help with the day (especially Peter as it’s his 11th and last time of driving the refreshment buggy).

- and finally, on behalf of St Michaels Hospice THANK YOU to everyone for taking part and helping raise much needed funds for a most worthy cause, with special thanks going to Paul McMath of Prospect Home Loans for his very kind contribution of £500!!

We raised even more than last year (must have been all those fines! ; )… at just shy of £1500 … Trade Paints will top this up to £2,000. We hope to see you next year.

Peter May.
