Friday 11th April witnessed Trade Paints golf societys' second outing ... and once again it didn't disappoint. With bacon (very nice roll it was too), tea and goody bags dealt with the 16 of us headed out onto the hills of Highwoods.

Thankfully TP continued it's remarkable run of luck regarding the weather ... with some gorgeous sunshine warming us all on the 1st tee. Alas, though the course was playing very nicely, and in exceptional condition (especially given all the recent rain!)- unfortunately the bunkers were written off as GUR for the day (shame!; ).

Some tense and occasionally exceptional golf was played- with Paul Ferguson standing in as USA captain due to Dean not being able to make it. With two outstanding finishes in the first group Europe won the 18th in both matches to finish all square in both.

This finish seemed to set the team up nicely with the next 4 matches coming in in favour of the tea sippers... Europe were 5-1 up with the last group to come in. Alas, this didn't go quite as well, and 1.5 of the possible 2 points went to the burger munchers. Europe 5.5 for the day, USA 2.5.

Thus, after 2 hard fought rounds USA march on with 9 points, Europe hot on their heals with 7. All to play for ... next battle commencing 23rd May (due to popular demand we have snuck another round in).

Congratulations to...

Paul March: Longest Drive

Dennis March: Nearest the Pin

Best individual stableford: Alan McDonald

This just leaves me to thank everyone at Highwoods for the exceptional service and great course! We were incredibly well looked after from start to finish.

Peter.
